Direct Payment Solution

AFIR-compliant credit card payments with direct payment terminals

Since the AFIR regulation came into force on April 13, 2024, the ability to pay with major debit and credit cards has been mandatory at all newly built public DC charging stations in the EU.

The Direct Payment Terminal solution from SMATRICS - in cooperation with TeleCash - offers a simple and cost-effective entry into the world of card payments with VISA & Mastercard with credit and debit cards as well as Giropay.

Regardless of whether you want to roll out new charging stations or equip an existing charging station with a credit card terminal - direct payment terminals from SMATRICS can be installed directly in charging stations as well as stand-alone on a pedestal.

Contactless direct payment solution

Customers can pay directly at the direct payment terminal or via smartphone with popular payment service providers.

Webinar (in German): Authentication & billing in e-mobility

In the fast-moving world of electric mobility, efficient authentication and simple billing of payments play a crucial role in improving the customer experience.

In this free SMATRICS webinar, you will gain a detailed insight into innovative payment systems that are characterized by simple usability, can be integrated seamlessly and used efficiently, and increase your competitiveness.

Benefits for charge point operators (CPOs)

Depending on the location and the hardware used, different setups are available for use: On the one hand, directly installed direct payment terminals in each charging station can provide convenience and redundancy. On the other hand, a single direct payment terminal for all charging points at the location, installed in a separate pedestal, can also ensure efficiency.

  • Hardware-independent: The Direct Payment Terminal from SMATRICS can be integrated directly into individual charging stations. Alternatively, it can be installed on a pedestal to cover several charging stations with one terminal.

  • Cross-hardware capability: The Direct Payment Terminal from SMATRICS supports a wide range of hardware models and can be used with both AC and DC charging stations.

  • Full-service tech implementation: In addition to the pre-configured direct payment terminals, SMATRICS takes care of the smooth commissioning of your solution.

  • Individual pricing: With the SMATRICS direct payment solution, you retain control over the pricing of your charging locations. Set individual prices for power classes and customer groups.

  • Future-proof with "fiscalization": The creation & transfer of digital cash receipts, which contain all accounting-relevant information, enables smooth and legally compliant accounting.

  • Convenient billing service: On request, SMATRICS can take over the complete processing of transactions with the payment service provider, including monthly evaluations and payouts of your customers' charges.

  • CI-compliant white label app: In order to fit seamlessly into the respective corporate identity, the user interface of the Direct Payment Terminal's card payment app can be customized with an individual company logo as well as its own color palette.

Advantages for charging guests

Charging guests come to the charging station, select the desired charging point at the credit card terminal and reserve a certain maximum amount on their credit or debit card. As soon as charging starts, the current price of the charging process is calculated in a live charging view. Once charging is complete, the difference is released on the card.

  • Simple payments: charging requires just a few clicks and a payment card - making charging as easy and convenient for customers as they are used to from traditional fuel terminals.

  • Simple receipts: customers receive a digital receipt as a PDF file by email or via QR code directly after loading. The receipt contains all relevant and legally required information.

  • Independent of location & hardware: whether for AC or DC locations, for new builds or extensions - the Direct Payment solution from SMATRICS is suitable for every application. The only requirement is the connection of the hardware to the charge point management system charVIS Operations.

  • Legally compliant: Direct Payment from SMATRICS fulfills all requirements of the European AFIR as well as those of local legislations, such as the Austrian cash register obligation for payment terminals and the digital fiscalization of receipts.
