Shopping centers as a boost for e-mobility: SMATRICS and AMIC Energy are Adding 24 Additional Fast-Charging Stations to their STOP SHOP Locations
Charging station operator AMIC Energy continues to place its trust in the expertise and full-service charging solutions offered by SMATRICS, in partnership with location provider CPI Europe, and is installing a total of 24 fast-charging points at five additional STOP SHOP locations—thereby responding to the rising number of new electric vehicle registrations with speed and forward-thinking planning.
“Charging on the go works best with retail partners. We are pleased to further expand our long-standing partnership with AMIC Energy, thereby providing public fast-charging infrastructure with the necessary continuity, reliability, and availability,” emphasizes Ronald Lausch, CSO at SMATRICS. Since 2020, over 100 ultra-fast charging points have been installed as part of the collaboration. This year, 24 high-power charging points will be added at a total of five STOP SHOP locations in Eisenstadt, Stoob, and Oberwart (Burgenland), Voitsberg (Styria), and Eferding (Upper Austria). SMATRICS serves as AMIC Energy’s full-service partner for site selection, handling all activities from planning and installation to ongoing operation, maintenance, and billing.
Electric Charging Completes the Shopping Experience
Günter Maier, Managing Director at AMIC Energy, also recognizes that retail locations are ideal for public charging infrastructure: “With available space, appropriate durations of stay, and high traffic, the STOP SHOP retail parks offer the best conditions for us. Site partner CPI Europe sees ultra-fast charging infrastructure as a clear competitive advantage: “With high-power charging, we’re turning our locations into charging hubs and providing our customers with added value. Partnerships like this demonstrate that sustainable and climate-friendly mobility concepts pay off,” said Katrin Gögele-Celeda, Country Manager for Austria and Slovenia at CPI Europe.
With the yellow AMIC Energy-branded charging stations at STOP SHOP, “powered by SMATRICS,” customers can charge their vehicles ultra-fast while they shop, using clean electricity generated from 100 percent renewable energy. Payment is handled individually and easily using a SMATRICS charging card, via the app, or via direct payment with a debit or credit card. The locations in Eisenstadt, Oberwart, and Stoob have already gone live this year, while Eferding and Voitsberg will go into operation at the end of April.
