Expansion of the fast-charging infrastructure at the METRO location in Simmering

METRO Austria is continuing to equip its 16 locations with fast-charging infrastructure. As part of another location partnership with AMIC Energy, in which METRO provides locations, there are now eight public, state-of-the-art high-power chargers at METRO Simmering—powered by SMATRICS.

Simple and emission-free charging with 100 percent renewable energy

Electricity for a range of 100 kilometers can be charged in just ten minutes, depending on the vehicle's charging capacity.

  • Payment is made simple with the SMATRICS charging card, charging cards from roaming partners, or via the Direct Payment Terminal with VISA, Mastercard, Google Pay, or Apple Pay directly at the charging station.
  • All fast charging points are powered by 100 percent green electricity.

METRO Austria CEO Thierry Guillon-Verne: "Together with our cooperation partners AMIC Energy and SMATRICS, we are driving forward sustainable transformation in the retail and mobility sectors. High-power chargers are currently available at METRO Vösendorf, METRO Wiener Neustadt, METRO Salzburg, and METRO Simmering. Langenzersdorf, Klagenfurt, and Linz will follow later this year; Dornbirn, St. Pölten, and Innsbruck will be equipped with HPC chargers in 2026." Once the expansion is complete, a total of 70 charging points will be available at METRO locations. 

“The expansion of electric mobility offers retailers such as METRO enormous opportunities to offer their customers the option of charging green electricity while shopping, attract new customer groups to their locations, and also charge their own fleet of vehicles,” says Ronald Lausch, CSO at SMATRICS. “Together with our partner AMIC Energy, we operate another HPC location at METRO in Simmering, powered by SMATRICS.”

AMIC co-owner Andreas Sernetz adds: “We are delighted that our cooperation with METRO is being expanded to include another location in Simmering. This location is not only attractive due to its convenient location—right next to the A4 motorway and close to the airport—but will also offer greater transparency in electric mobility in the future with flexible pricing and a display board that is visible from afar.”
