SMATRICS and eTrucker Join Forces: Partnership with eTrucker Provides E-Truck Fleets with Expanded Charging Access

Since June, electric truck drivers from freight forwarding and logistics companies have had access to an expanded charging network, allowing them to benefit from transparent, affordable kWh rates without roaming surcharges. Through this partnership, eTrucker—with its eTrucker Chip—already connects a wide range of public charging infrastructure operators in Austria and Germany.

“For us, the partnership with eTrucker is the next logical step in our transformation and the expansion of e-logistics. Together, we are connecting charging points to form a networked, scalable charging ecosystem. Consistent standards and seamless integration make access for electric truck fleets easier and more efficient than ever,” emphasizes Hauke Hinrichs, CEO of SMATRICS.

Michael Clarke, CEO and founder of eTrucker: “Direct, bilateral contracts between transport companies and charging station operators are the most cost-effective way to charge electric trucks—without roaming fees and with transparent kWh prices. With the eTrucker chip, this model can be seamlessly implemented in practice—from drivers to charging point operators. The fact that SMATRICS is leading the way here shows where the market is headed.”

The automotive market is also showing that e-mobility is increasingly seen as a stabilizing factor in times of rising energy prices. For logistics companies, the focus is shifting not only to environmental benefits but also, and above all, to predictable energy costs, transparent charging prices, and reliable access to infrastructure. “We are pleased to be expanding the charging network beyond national borders with eTrucker as our partner,” said Hinrichs.

Cooperative Depot Charging as an Economic Factor

The shared vision of eTrucker and SMATRICS is to make access to charging infrastructure as simple, transparent, and cost-effective as possible for electric truck fleets. Another service that addresses this need and was recently launched by SMATRICS is the SMATRICS Depot Club: It expands the existing eTrucker ecosystem to include controlled-access depot charging points and makes them seamlessly usable via the eTrucker chip. This benefits all parties involved: Logistics providers who want to open their own depot charging infrastructure to other electric trucks gain the opportunity to increase the utilization of their own charging infrastructure and thereby tap into an additional source of revenue. In doing so, they determine charging times as well as the scope of availability for partner companies. Electric trucks, on the other hand, can optimize their route planning and charge at attractive rates thanks to the expanded charging network.
